Open consultation - NHS Provider Selection Regime proposals

18/02/2021

NHS England has published its consultation on the proposed NHS Provider Selection Regime. The consultation on these proposals will run until 7 April 2021.

The consultation seeks to set out the proposals for the future of healthcare commissioning and is published alongside other published documentation including Legislating for Integrated Care Systems: five recommendations to Government and Parliament, which details their vision for a more integrated, effective and responsive care system across England.

NHS England intend to use the information received from this consultation to further develop proposals for the new regime which will replace the current rules around procuring healthcare services.

Hempsons have written an article on the key aspects of the consultation, including the potential removal of the commissioning of healthcare services from the scope of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and insights from the consultation document as to what the current regime could be replaced with.
