NHS Provider Selection Regime

10/10/2023

The Department of Health and Social Care are planning to introduce Provider Selection Regime regulations into parliament on 19th October 2023 with the intention for them to come into play on 1st January 2024.

The aim of the new regulations is to move away from the expectation of tendering for healthcare services in all circumstances and towards collaboration across the health and care system. This is intended to remove unnecessary tendering, remove barriers to integrating care and promote the development of stable collaborations. The PSR will still require organisations to comply with processes which evidence decision-making, such as record keeping and publicising notices. Competitive tendering will also remain an important tool for organisations to use when it is of benefit.
