As England continues its road to recovery following the pandemic, challenges still remain for those working in the healthcare sector. The most recent Spending Review highlighted an overall increase in healthcare spend, with additional budget to cover the COVID response.

The Levelling Up Programme announced by Government in early 2022 allocated an additional £23bn to NHS England to fund new hospitals and to deliver more nurses.

Whilst the last few years have undoubtedly been challenging, the NHS must now reflect on past learnings and look to the future, and the delivery of public health services in a post-pandemic world. Now is the time for the healthcare community to come together, review lessons learned and work on the positive changes that can be embedded to build resilience in the future.
