Phase 5 of the Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund

20/03/2024

The Phase 5 of the Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund has been announced for the financial year 2024 to 2025. Here are the key details:

1. Objective: The fund provides grants for public sector organisations to engage specialists and experts who can assist in creating a robust heat decarbonisation plan.
2. Importance of a Decarbonisation Plan:
• Having a well-defined heat decarbonisation plan puts organisations in a strong position to take the next steps in decarbonising.
• It enables them to develop detailed project proposals, which can be crucial for applying for future grant funding.
• These funds can be used for capital decarbonisation measures, such as those covered by the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.
3. Scheme Details:
• Funding Amount: Up to £16 million will be available for eligible public sector bodies.
• Application Period: Applications for Phase 5 can be submitted between April 17, 2024, and May 1, 2024.
• Completion Deadline: Successful applicants must complete their funded activities by March 31, 2025.
4. Administering Body: The Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund is managed by Salix Finance, the same body that administers the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.
5. Guidance and Application Forms: Interested organisations can find scheme guidance, eligibility criteria, and application forms on the Salix Finance website.

This initiative aims to empower public sector entities to strategically prepare for future decarbonisation opportunities and contribute to a greener future.
