Social Marketing (Behavioural Change)

Behavioural change

The NHS Five Year Forward View  considers that the future health of millions, the sustainability of the NHS, and the economic prosperity of Britain all depend on a radical upgrade in prevention and public health.  It emphasises the need for action on obesity, smoking, alcohol and other major health risks.

A key focus today for commissioners of health and social care therefore is the development of services which will support people to change or maintain behaviour for the benefit of individuals and society as a whole.  Social marketing is an evidence-based approach to achieving this.

NHS Commercial Solutions has appointed a group of behavioural change specialists to its framework agreement for the provision of social marketing services

Benefits of using our framework

  • The framework is available to NHS organisations, local authorities and social enterprises and community interest companies, and includes providers with experience across a wide range of social marketing services

  • This framework allows you to select individual services from specific lots or, a combination of services from a multi-service lot to provide a range of services

  • Procured following a legally-compliant procedure, it enables both direct awards and further competition to effect the best outcome.

Framework structure

The framework structure is designed to match the separate stages of a social marketing campaign:

  • Lot 1:    Planning and scoping
  • Lot 2:    Development and implementation
  • Lot 3:    Monitoring, Evaluation and follow-up

In addition, Lot 4 provides for a combination of any of the above services.
